"Power and "Humanity" is not an either/or choice.

What i find so striking about this article and picture in the Guardian newspaper

is that it shows a woman combining seemingly incompatible forces:

tremendous strength,

tremendous will to win, together with

great warmth and caring

It is a picture of Serena Williams giving emotional support to her young opponent

who fell under Serena's superior power on the courts.

Serena is living proof that the force of the drive to win is compatible

with the force of empathy....in the same person.

Both together can exist in women.

Both together can exist in men.
