Caricatures! It doesn't matter whether the caricaturist is world renown or 6 years old. Each pu

My daughter Elissa's drawing when she was 6 years old. It puts a smile on my face every time I look at it!

I've used it often in this blog

The next caricature is a birthday gift from Joanna Hegemann, a delightful international renown illustrator... and a friend ever since she was a child playing with my children when we all lived in Baie d'Urfe.

Ah, Iris Apfler. My mentor! Who always knew how to live a full life. And still does at the age of 96...or is it now 97!

"You have to have fun. If you don't have fun, you might as well be dead!"

Hirschfeld. The Internationally renowned caricaturist of New York's cultural and theatre crowd.

A copy of his drawing of composer, George Gershwin.hangs in my living room. The sweetest, unprepossessing man. And, oh, so successful.

There's the story of how one day he came to visit the famous French composer, Ravel, for a lesson in composition. Ravel was sitting at the keyboard, looked up at Gershwin and asked, "How much do you earn a year?" Gershwin answered, "$150,000" - (this was in the 30's, the equivalent of over $2 million today!) Ravel was stunned. He got up. Pointed to the keyboard, and said to Gershwin, "You teach me!!!!!!!!!!!"

I know, I know. Since when does a shoe for sale at Holt Renfrew classify as a caricature! But take one look at it.....if this isn't a gorgeous caricature of a woman's shoe! A bargain! $1395...and the second shoe is included!

Guess who drew this!
