My daughter, Johannah, was cross country skiing in the Wind River Range mountains in Wyoming in 1979
She tells this story:
"I lost a ski
No climbing rope
I started falling quickly.

\a large rock loomed 20 metres away.
instant death...................
..........split second!!!!!!!!!!
self-arrest jerked off the other ski jerked my body around
dug my hands and boots DEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!INTO THE SNOW.
EXCRUCIATING PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
