To the New Scientist
Big mistake, guys.
You seduce me with the possibilities of reading a great article,
than just at the most interesting moment, you withdraw with.....”Subscribe and we’ll finish!”
You must be kidding!!!!!!!!!!
The only one who got it right when it came to asking for money, was the Guardian,
who used “Jewish Guilt” like to the manner born.
“We are not charging you anything. Enjoy. But we need money...desperately!”
After a year, the guilt worked. I subscribed. And I’m still not at the full price .
The guardian has hooked me for life!
And a year's subscription is still noticeably under $100.
Originally, The New Yorker wanted full price for a yearly subscription.
I told them about The Guardian and Jewish Guilt.
They ignored the story.
Then they finally gave in,
They gave me the "$1 a week for 6 weeks" shpiel,
and hooked me with that (i used to be an avid reader of the New Yorker ions ago so it was an easy hook!)
Then the New Yorker's true colors began to show.
They moved in...SLOWLY...AT FIRST...
$50 for the year.....so far so good...
and then they killed it!
The second year they jumped to $153.....newspaper “rape!"
I quit!!!!!!!!!!.
All this to say, New Scientist,
Don’t move right in with the Full Monty.
Develop a plan to hook me for a lifetime.
And take my advice:
“Go nice and slow!”
Let me know when you’re ready!
Love hugs and a ton of kisses,
Claire
