Auntie Beckie passed on her magic to me. And it still works...for hailing buses!

It doesn’t take much.

You get on your bus. Looking the bus driver straight in the eye, you start with a greeting.

And then you share something in common.

“Great day it’s finally spring” Or “What yukkie weather. Boy are you lucky to be working in this warm bus!”

And when you leave the bus.

“Thanks much. Have a great day.”

The first time the same bus driver saw me running for his bus, he didn't move his bus.

Even if it meant his green light turned red.

He waited for me to get on. I thanked him profusely. He waved away my thanks.

“Of course I waited. I recognized who you were! You're my friend!”

The Auntie Beckie magic works. It takes people out of the anonymous robot stage and turns them into a warm caring human being...A friend.

And when a friend runs after your bus, you wait.....even if it means your green light is going to turn to red!
